Daisy Fried To Teach Poetry Workshop at Fine Arts Work Center

Daisy Fried will facilitate a poetry workshop at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts this autumn.

The workshop will commence on October 26th and run for four weeks until November 20th. The cost of the program is $500, and registration is currently open. The workshop, titled ‘Writing Poems that Don’t Fit,” will focus on “what your poems want to be and how you fit into your own work,” according to the course description.

Also according to the description, the workshop will explore “stylistic mode” and what it means to write poems that don’t seem to categorically fit into an existing “camp” of poetry. The class will be generative, as students will engage in writing exercises to create new work. Students will also read poetry by contemporary poets such as Anne Winters, Anne Carson and Ange Mlinko. In addition to writing new work, students will be provided with revision strategies for editing and rewriting.
