“Dixieland Delight” by Alabama

Okay, I admit it. I’ve loved this song for a long time. Alabama was a big deal for me when I was growing up. Anyone that knows me knows I got a weakness for 80’s country songs. They are the oldest stories I know. I remember listening to this song over and over again in the ceramics studio at Bennington College while everyone else played Bob Marley. What a funny thing. A few years ago, I was at my friend’s wedding in Nashville. She married a boy from Ohio, and I was the maid of honor. I took the best man out to a honky tonk. There was a live band at this place and oh what a thing. He went to get a drink and they played this song and I just screamed it and there were so many people we could barely find each other again.
