Man Murders Friend after Literary Forms Argument


In the town of Irbit, Russia, a 53-year-old man stabbed his 66-year-old friend to death after the friend refused to accept his assertion that poetry is a superior genre to prose.

The two were drinking heavily, “downing shots of vodka,” according to¬†The Telegraph, when the friendly literary debate turned bloody. Tom Parfitt¬†reports, “the guest dealt his host a fatal blow to the chest with a knife. The murderer fled the scene but was soon detained in a nearby village, and confessed.”

Now, the aggressor, a former teacher, has been sentenced to 8 years in a penal colony.
