Man Murders Friend after Literary Forms Argument
In the town of Irbit, Russia, a 53-year-old man stabbed his 66-year-old friend to death after the friend refused to accept his assertion that poetry is a superior genre to prose.
The two were drinking heavily, “downing shots of vodka,” according to The Telegraph, when the friendly literary debate turned bloody. Tom Parfitt reports, “the guest dealt his host a fatal blow to the chest with a knife. The murderer fled the scene but was soon detained in a nearby village, and confessed.”
Now, the aggressor, a former teacher, has been sentenced to 8 years in a penal colony.
