Prison poets caught plagiarizing
In a bid to be either sneaky or sweetly ironic, some inmates have ripped off work by Robert Frost and James Brown, reports the Telegraph. The goal of the…scam?…was to win £25 at Inside Times, a newspaper for British inmates. Hopefully it doesn’t cost the poets a trillion dollars.
It would be interesting to actually see the poems discussed in this non-story. According to the Telegraph, one editor withdrew an entry when she noticed that it “contained lines from Frost’s “Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening.”" Contained lines from? Let’s call that one a Frost allusion. If every hack poem that talked about having miles to go before you sleep were considered plagiarism, well…
