Atlanta: Poetry on the Radio

Poetry is on the radio in Atlanta. Georgia State University’s WRAS 88.5 FM student-run radio station broadcasts poetry via their show Melodically Challenged, ”where yesterday’s poetry comes alive and today’s poetry rocks.” The syndicated version of the show broadcasts on WRAS from 2:00-3:00 PM every Sunday and can be heard live from 3:00-4:00. Founded May 2006 by English major Robert Vincent Morea III who passed away June 2006 from an infection, poet and PhD candidate K.B. Kincer, poet, MFA candidate Ben Michelman, and Journalism/Telecommunications and Film student Brittany Pool serve as hosts of the show. Recent themed shows include: “Back to School,” “Pop Culture,” “Dead Animal,” “Rain,” and “Classical Allusion.” Missed the title and poet in a past show? Listings of poems featured on past shows can be found on the website. Sunday afternoons might never be the same.
