UPDATED: This Week in Ohio: Demske/Yankelevich, Paging Columbus & Big Big Mess
CLEVELAND – Wednesday, October 10, 7pm – Nick Demske, whose self-titled manuscript was selected by Joyelle McSweeney for the 2010 Fence Modern Poets Series Award and was published by Fence Books, and Matvei Yankelevich, founding editor of Ugly Duckling Presse and author of the poetry collection Alpha Donut will be reading at Rodman Hall on the John Carroll University campus (20700 N Park Blvd, University Heights).
COLUMBUS – Thursday, October 11, 6pm – Paging Columbus begins its fall reading line-up at the OSU Urban Arts Space (50 W. Town Street) with perennial Columbus poetry all-star Nathan Moore, Kelly Kathleen Ferguson, author of My Life as Laura: How I Searched for Laura Ingalls Wilder and Found Myself, and Jennifer Hambrick, host of Classical 101′s Amadeus Deli.
October’s ominous theme is darkness, which organizer Hannah Stephenson says allows for “magic, mystery and a little bit of fear.” More Information Here
AKRON – Saturday, October 13, 6pm – Cave Canem fellows Jonterri Gadson and Hafizah Geter invade Akron for the second Big Big Mess reading of the month at Annabell’s Lounge (784 W. Market) in Highland Square, alongside Robert Ostrom, whose new book of poems The Youngest Butcher in Illinois just dropped from Yes Yes Books.
