Powell wins $100K Kingsley Tufts Award
D.A. Powell has won the $100,000 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award from Claremont Graduate University, LA Times reports. Powell’s new book, Chronic, was nominated for a National Book Critics Circle Award last month, and factored heavily into Coldfront’s 2009 Year in Review.
The Kingsley Tufts Award is designed to honor a midcareer poet. Powell, 46, is the author of three other books of poetry: Tea, Lunch and Cocktails. Last year, Stephen Burt reviewed Chronic for the London Review of Books and John Freeman reviewed it for the LA Times.
Coldfront will soon publish a review of Chronic written by James Cihlar.
