Seattle: Elliot Bay Showcases New Local Poetry Books
Seattle bookstore Elliot Bay Book Company has an impressive roster of area poets that will be reading from new books in late July and early August.
First up, tomorrow night, Wednesday, July 25, at 7 p.m., local poet John Olson will be reading from a new book of prose poems, Larynx Galaxy (Black Widow Press, 2012). Olson is a Stranger Genius and Clayton Eshleman has described his past work as “a volcanic, fresh and scalding rush.”
Friday, July 25 at 7 p.m., the bookstore will celebrate the debut poetry collection of Seattle author Raul Sanchez, titled All Our Brown-Skinned Angels (Moon Path Press, 2012). Sanchez will be joined by local poets Lana Hechtman Ayers and John Burgess.
August 4 at 5 p.m., Seattle poet Maged Zaher takes his second full-length collection out for a spin. The book, The Revolution Happened and You Didn’t Call Me (Tinfish Press, 2012), has been hailed by poet Anthony McCann as “vital, lucid and uncompromising.”
