NYC Poetry Festival Continues to Grow
The fourth annual NYC Poetry Festival, hosted by the Poetry Society of New York, took place over the weekend on Governors Island. Poets from over 65 different reading series and presses came out to share their work on three different stages.
Notable sets included The New York Poetry Society, who had Paul Muldoon perform with his band the Wayside Shrines as well as readings by Mark Doty, Joyelle McSweeney and Matthea Harvey; VIDA:Women in the Literary Arts, hosted by Camille Rankine; and Bloof Books, which featured poets Becca Klaver, Kirsten Kaschock, Sharon Mesmer, and Justin Marks, as well as Bloof’s founder, Shanna Compton.
Coldfront Magazine hosted featured reader Mark Bibbins at 2:30pm on Saturday, the first day of the festival, at the Algonquin stage.
