PJ Harvey Book of Poetry to Be Released Fall 2015

Pitchfork reports that musician PJ Harvey will release a book of her original poetry juxtaposed with images her collaborator Seamus Murphy created. Murphy is a photographer and filmaker.

Harvey is calling the book The Hollow of the Hand, and it reportedly “chronicles the authors’ travels around the world between 2011 and 2014.” Some of the regions that influenced the book are Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington, D.C.

Of her experience with this project, Harvey writes:

I wanted to smell the air, feel the soil and meet the people of the countries I was fascinated with. My friend Seamus Murphy and I agreed to grow a project together – I would collect words, he would collect pictures, following our instincts on where we should go.

The book, due to be released in the fall of 2015, will first appear in the United Kingdom, where it should be available by October 8th. By October 20, 2015, bookstores in the United States should be carrying The Hollow of the Hand, published by Bloomsbury Circus.

The New Yorker has a recording of Harvey reading “The Guest Room,” which you can listen to here.
