San Francisco Giants’ Hunter Pence Pens Poems?

According to a short post on the ESPN blog SweetSpot, Hunter Pence, a right-handed outfielder for the San Francisco Giants, occasionally writes something like poetry.

The ESPN writer, David Schoenfield reveals that Pence shared some of his “words of wisdom” at a media session on Monday. Although it’s unclear how Pence presented his words, ESPN has reproduced several of his musings in their entirety. Here’s the full text of “Geography”:

I learn different things
about different cities
because a lot of them are unique to their city.
I remember one in particular here:
“Hunter Pence thinks he’s in Kansas.”
I was like, “We’re not?”

As of Wednesday afternoon, Pence and his Giants lead the 2014 World Series against the Kansas City Royals, a team that hasn’t been to the Series since 1985, 1-0. The Giants bested the Royals Tuesday night; the final score was 7-1.
