“Genie in a Bottle” by Christina Aguilera
My BFF dyed the tips of my hair pink when Christina did. I had one of those cd players you could hang in your shower and I’d dance while I showered.
Xtina does a lot of yoga now. I like yoga. I understand the way western capitalism has co-opted it. That is and is not related to one’s own private body.
Xtina did a yoga session with Jackie Lee on The Voice and it was so weird. I always think of Xtina and Britney as Miley precursors but really what are we saying when we claim that women with public bodies are part of a lineage.
I don’t want a private body but I don’t want a public body either.
We are all public bodies, some more than others. This is required of us by power. I am anti-capitalist and I don’t want a capitalist body but I don’t want an anti-capitalist body either.
