Denver/Boulder: CA Conrad!! Camille Dungy!! Laird Hunt!!

Tonight, two amazing events in Denver! (At the same time…thems the breaks…)

Camille Dungy will read at UC Denver at 6:30 in the Tivoli Student Union. Camille Dungy is the author of three books, including Smith Blue and Suck on the Marrow, and the editor of various anthologies. She’s a professor in the Creative Writing Department at San Francisco State University.

CA Conrad will lead an open discussion at Counterpath at 7pm entitled: (Soma)tic Poetry as Liquid Crystal Dream Therapy. CA Conrad is the author of A BEAUTIFUL MARSUPIAL AFTERNOON: New (Soma)tics (Wave Books, 2012), The Book of Frank (Wave Books, 2010), Advanced Elvis Course (Soft Skull Press, 2009), Deviant Propulsion (Soft Skull Press, 2006), and a collaboration with poet Frank Sherlock titled The City Real & Imagined (Factory School, 2010).

If you miss CA Conrad tonight, you can catch him reading at UC Boulder, Thursday October 4th, at 7:30pm at Norlin Library in the British and Irish Studies Room (5th floor).

Fort Collins/Boulder: Evening Without Edit Reading and Barbara Guest Workshop

This Saturday, September 15th, at 7pm Avogadro’s Number will host Evening Without Edit a reading series for local writers of fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. This edition of E.W.E. features HR Hegnauer, Kevin Bartz, Serena Chopra, Brad Vogler, Abigail McDonald, Charles Malone, Rico Moore, and Mandy Rose, with music by Sarah Pieplow.

On Sunday, September 16th, at 10am, Innisfree in Boulder will host a Barbara Guest Workshop led by Troy Suben.

Boulder: Hitch-hiking poets Andre & Likins at Innisfree + New Facebook Group for poetry events in Denver & Boulder

Friday, August 31st, at 7pm at Innisfree Allan Andre & Erin Likins will celebrate the release of their text, Traveling By Mirror: A Hitch-hiker’s Guide To Tenderness.

Both graduates of the Jack Kerouac School for Disembodied Poetics, they spent eight weeks this summer hitch-hiking across the Western US and Canada with their matching Olympia typewriters, improvising poems for pedestrians in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Alberta, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and California. Come Friday and hear about their adventure.

Boulder & Denver: Naropa Summer Writing Program; Chen, Celona & Browning at Innisfree; Gabbert & Cotter at Lighthouse Writers

It is that time again. Naropa Summer Writing Program time. Dozens of amazing artists will descend upon Boulder over the next month to teach workshops and perform. This week Naropa welcomes Charles Alexander, Rebecca Brown, Brenda Coultas, Steve Dickison, E. Tracy Grinnell, HR Hegnauer, David Henderson, Lisa Jarnot, Dawn Lundy Martin, Cynthia Miller, Prageeta Sharma, Eleni Sikelianos, Stacy Szymaszek, Steven Taylor, & Magdalena Zurawski. Amazing. Faculty readings are Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday nights at 7:30. See the full schedule here.

On Friday, June 15th, Feng Sun Chen, Tina Brown Celona & Sommer Browning will read from their recent work at Innisfree at 7pm in Boulder.

Feng wrote Butcher’s Tree, out with Black Ocean earlier this year. Tina has two collections with Fence, Snip! Snip! and the real moon of poetry and other poems. And last year, Sommer’s Either Way I’m Celebrating came out with Birds, LLC.

Elisa Gabbert, John Cotter, and many others are reading for the Lighthouse Writers Workshop LitFest Book Fair Friday and Saturday. Gabbert will reading from her book of poems, The French Exit, on Friday at 1:30pm and Cotter will read from his novel, Under the Small Lights, on Saturday at 1pm. Check out the full schedule here.

Thursday, May 31, at 7pm Richard Froude and Daniel Staniforth celebrate the British small press, Skylight Press, and read from their work at InnisfreeRichard Froude is the author of FABRIC (Horse Less Press, 2011) and The Passenger (Skylight Press, 2012) – and a book of translation – Tarnished Mirrors: Translations of Charles Baudelaire (Muffled Cry Editions, 2004). Daniel Staniforth is the author of the book of stories, Diddle (Skylight Press).


Colorado: Mud Luscious Press, Innisfree, Innovative Women Writers in Publishing & Waldman and Sikelianos

Tonight, April 25th, Jack Martin, Daniel Bailey, Matthew Cooperman, J. A. Tyler, & Corey Zeller read at 7pm at Equinox Brewing in Fort Collins. This reading is sponsored by the wonderful Fort Collins Press, Mud Luscious.

Tomorrow, Thursday April 26th, at Innisfree (one of three poetry only bookstores in the United States!) in Boulder, poets Michelle Naka Pierce and Chris Pusateri will read from their work. 7pm. Pierce is celebrating the publication of her book, Continuous Frieze Bordering Red out from Oxford University Press this year.

Friday, April 27th, at CU Boulder, the Creative Writing Program hosts a reading and panel discussion featuring innovative writers/publishers Roxane Gay, Joyelle McSweeney, and Diane Williams. For bios and many links to these writers’ works click here. The panel starts at 7:30 in Humanities 150.

At Counterpath in Denver on Saturday April 28th, Anne Waldman and Eleni Sikelianos will perform and read work, and present a screening of Ed Bowes’s Entanglement(2009). The film is composed with text by Anne Waldman and stars Eleni Sikelianos.
